DUNDEE

SuBo sparks online ticket frenzy

By GRAEME OGSTON30 May 2013 8.46am.
Sellers are cashing in on Susan Boyle’s Dundee concert date, with briefs being offered on the internet at almost three times their face value.
One online site is charging £224 for a pair of £42.50 tickets to the Scottish singing star’s Caird Hall concert on July 6.
Tickets for the date sold out within hours of going on sale two weeks ago.
Fans of the I Dreamed A Dream star queued up outside the City Square box office to book their places, while others ordered their places online.
However, within hours of the show selling out, tickets for the Dundee show were being resold on online auction site eBay at inflated prices.
A £35 ticket for the stalls is being offered for £80 by one seller, while another trader from Exeter is advertising two tickets for a total of £160.
Online ticket resale site Viagogo is offering two tickets in the stalls for £90, more than double their face value.
The company is also charging a £27.28 booking fee, £9.95 shipping and £5.46, taking the total for the seats to £224.
Morag Rogers, assistant manager of Groucho’s record shop in Dundee, said high-demand concerts were always in danger of being targeted by re-sellers.
“It’s frustrating for customers trying to get tickets when they appear on auction sites,” she said.
“It must be annoying for people who didn’t get them when they originally went on sale.
“People definitely go online and buy tickets with no intention of using them and then sell them on.”
Ms Rogers said she advised against fans using auction sites to buy tickets.
She said: “There are a lot of times where people have bought tickets on auction sites and never received them.
“People shouldn’t use them. If they didn’t buy tickets from unofficial sites, then they wouldn’t exist. They are only there because there’s a demand for tickets.”
Tickets for the 52-year-old’s shows in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Inverness are also being offered on auction sites.
The Scottish dates mark the first time the Britain’s Got Talent singer has embarked on a full concert tour.
Announcing the tour, she said: “I wanted to begin in Scotland to say thank you for all the support I have been shown over the past few years.
“It feels right to begin another new experience in my home country.”
“I’ve always wanted to do my own show and now I feel confident enough to get out there and give it a go.”

STV Article - Susan Boyle Dreams of Vegas and Irish Tours

Susan Boyle: exclusive performance plus Vegas dream and Irish tour hopes

http://entertainment.stv.tv/showbiz/227204-susan-boyle-exclusive-performance-plus-vegas-dream-and-irish-tour-hopes/
Susan Boyle allowed STV showbiz reporter Laura Boyd to come along and have a sneak peek at the rehearsals for her forthcoming Scottish tour – and what a treat that was.
Susan delivered a breathtaking rendition of her signature tune, I Dreamed a Dream, reminiscent of her now legendary Britain’s Got Talent audition, back in 2009.
Since then, she has gone on to become a global superstar and is about to embark on her first series of solo concerts.
She explained: “I’ve been looking forward to it for quite a few months now. It’s a team effort and it’s a very exciting project.
“It will be a wee chance to let the general public know what I’m capable of.”
Susan has been keen to get on the show on the road for a while now, admitting: “I’ve been nagging my manager for some time now, he’s nearly demented with me!”
So what can those lucky enough to get their hands on a ticket expect from Susan Boyle in concert?
“Expect to be entertained and have a good fun night,” the 52-year-old said.
Susan Boyle in Concert will see Susan play seven dates throughout Scotland.
She said: “It was a kind of thank you to Scottish people for all the support I’ve had. I’ve had a lot of support and a lot of nice people around me and I’m eternally grateful for it.”
And if that goes well, will Susan take the concert throughout the world?
She said she’s taking “baby steps” at the moment to see how the audiences respond, but, if it goes well, she would like to tour other parts, admitting: “I’d like to travel to Ireland and tour Ireland.”
Susan’s life has changed dramatically since she took to that Britain’s Got Talent stage 4 years ago.
With record-breaking albums under her belt and having performed for the likes of the Pope and the Queen, did she ever imagine her life would follow this path?
True to her cheeky nature, Susan laughed: “I didn’t imagine I would get through the first audition! I mean that awful frock - I was like a cake!”
One of the highlights this year for the Blackburn belter was getting to perform with her idol, Donny Osmond, who she dubbed “a bit of alright.”
Having achieved so much already, with a film role to add to her credits this year, what else would Susan like to do? Could the rumours of a Las Vegas residency really be on the cards?
She told Laura: “Rumour has it is on the cards. As I say, we’ll see how these shows go and see how the public take to them and if they take to them we can take them further.
“I would like to go to Vegas. It’s a marvellous place to be.That would put me on the level of other people then.”
Susan rounded off the chat with a special message for her fans.
You can watch the message and the full interview, plus a sneak peek at Susan’s concert rehearsal, in the player above.
Stay tuned for more from Laura’s chat with Susan, including an impromptu performance, this week on stv.tv.

Susan Boyle - Susan Boyle's Licence Fee Fears As Media Descended

28 May 2013

Boyle shot to overnight fame in 2009 when she appeared on the U.K. talent show and stunned the audience and judges with her note-perfect rendition of I Dreamed A Dream.
She was at her home in Scotland when her headline-grabbing audition was broadcast for the first time, and she was so stunned when she opened the curtains the following day to see outside broadcast vans lining the street that she feared she had been caught watching Tv without a licence.

Boyle tells British magazine Ok!, "It was surreal... The next day there were satellite trucks lining the street. When the first one turned up I thought it was the Tv licence van, I was fretting I'd forgotten to pay my licence! Before I could take a breath there were people from Oprah and Good Morning America on my doorstep wanting to talk to me. It was bizarre."
