Comeback for Andy with Susan Boyle

A LEIGH-BORN singer, trombonist and bandleader has been signed up to host two gala concerts headlined by international singing star Susan Boyle.
And a new series of adverts for the NatWest Bank features 49-year-old Andy Prior’s voice.
The long-acclaimed musician has previously sold out the London Palladium, wowed Sinatra and played Vegas but latterly has struggled to find gigs in a crowded market.
But now Andy and his orchestra will perform at the 2,500-seat Opera House, Blackpool, in September.
Two all-star shows will see Britain’s Got Talent winner Boyle topping the bill, comics Roy Walker and Joe Longthorne also doing spots and Andy both performing and acting as MC.
Meanwhile his voice of 20 years ago is currently being piped into millions of homes after advertisers took a shine to his performance of I’ve Got You Under My Skin for NatWest’s new publicity campaign.
And yet, being a big fan of more intimate venues, Andy is just as excited about a concert a little closer to home when he plays Horwich RMI Club on July 26 with a mixture of hits from Frank Sinatra and Glenn Miller.
Andy said: “Things are definitely looking up. I have been insisting that I have a real band behind me and I think in these bookings sticking to our guns has paid off.
“I am going up to Scotland to see Susan Boyle in a few weeks to discuss the show where I will be musical director for her. Hopefully it will lead to more work.
Tickets for the Horwich RMI concert can be obtained from the club on 01204 468395 or call Diane on 07795 366346.
