Review of my unexpected meeting with Susan Boyle

Susan Boyle at the Stockyards Station with Graysea

A Delightful Unexpected Meeting with Susan Boyle at the
Stockyards Station, Fort Worth, Texas, Oct. 20, 2014

Monday, Oct. 20, 2014

Monday was the date of Susan Boyle's Bass Hall concert in Fort Worth Texas.

After our big breakfast at home, my nieces Cheryl, Lori, Kathy and I planned
to leave early for the concert to do a little sightseeing and get a late lunch in
the Stockyards historical district and catch the cattle run at 4:00 pm. After
that, we would head over to the Bass Hall concert area to get a bite before
the 8:00 pm show. Joe, Cheryl's husband, would meet us there.

After our 30 minute drive from Dallas, we started out at a beautiful flower

garden/ water park and strolled around for some time. Then we headed to
the Stockyard area to have lunch. We found a typical cowboy saloon type
of restaurant, full of western relics and had a wonderful lunch. Then we
went shopping, of course. After a few stores, we headed to the cattle drive
area, a couple of blocks over, to see the cattle come through the town at
4 pm. Authentic Fort Worth cowboys drive the herd down Exchange Avenue.
"Head 'em up and move 'em out". The cattle drive took all of about 15 minutes.

After that we headed to the car. As I crossed the street to the car, I was

shocked to see before me, Susan Boyle, about to get on a great big longhorn
bull and she had on very high heel shoes. What a sight to behold! Who ever
thought that this wee little lady from Blackburn, a worldwide super star,
who would be singing to over 2000 people in a few hours, would be out and
about, climbing on a great big longhorn animal. Wow!!!

After my OMG, ooos, arrrs and shock, I finally calmed down to get some

pictures. Nicola, Susan’s publicist, came up beside me to get pictures of
Susan, as well as my nieces. After Susan's "ride", Susan's PA, Lorraine,
took a turn. Everyone was having so much fun. As Susan walked past us,
I said hi with a few words and she answered and continued on.

My niece Lori reminded me of the special gift I had made for Susan and

suggested it would be a good time to give it to her. Then my niece Cheryl
got the gift out of the car and gave it to me. Susan was just starting to walk
up the sidewalk, when I went over to her and gave her the gift. I started to
talk with her when I gave her the gift. Susan and I talked for almost three
minutes. I don’t know why I was so nervous and excited, but I was.
My niece Lori, got it all on video. What a great surprise!

I also got two hugs from Susan and a delightful conversation. I was on a

cloud the entire day. My conversation with Susan was the longest and the
best out of all seven times I met her. I told her I was there with my nieces
and nephew. I introduce her to my nieces. I also, finally got to ask her if she
saw any of my 4 blogs, and if she liked them. She said she did. Was I happy
to hear that! Susan said that Nicola shows them to her and she likes them.
She asked if we were going to the concert, so I replied yes. Then she said I
would like it and it was a good concert. And I said, I know it will be good
because everything you do is good. Then we parted with a hug and she went
over to the bench to sit with a lady who came with her.

What a fantastic moment that was for me! So excited and floating on air and

the concert didn't even start at that time. For the rest of the day, I think I could
have flown without a plane - on cloud nine, for sure.

Kilmarnock FC's Park Suite

Merrill Osmond, star of the 70s supergroup follows in his wee sister Marie's footsteps ands visits Rugby Park

On his way: Merrill Osmond

Kilmarnock’s bizarre link with American family music group The Osmonds continues with an appearance at Killie’s Park Suite by Merrill Osmond and his son Travis.
The pair follow in the footsteps of Merrill’s wee sister Marie whose Paper Roses hit is the Rugby Park club’s unofficial anthem.
Marie popped into Rugby Park almost two years ago when she jetted into Glasgow for a gig with brother Donny and Susan Boyle at Glasgow’s SECC.
She said there was ‘no way’ she was visiting Scotland without paying a visit to the Ayrshire stadium – where she met hundreds of delighted fans and performed Paper Roses live.
Now it’s the turn of big brother Merrill to come to Killie.
He is taking centrestage at a Christmas charity event in the club’s Park Suite next Thursday, December 11, with Travis.
The 7pm for 7.30 event is in aid of The Hearing Fund UK. Merrill is the patron of The Hearing Fund UK, a charity founded by his son, Justin. The Hearing Fund helps children living with hearing loss and helps raise deaf awareness globally.
The event will include a three-course dinner and entertainment from Merrill and Travis. Tickets are priced £65 and are extremely limited.

Susan Magdalane Boyle, commonly known as Susan Boyle, is a famous Scottish musician, singer, as well as an actress. Susan Boyle rose to prominence in 2009, when she participated in the television show called “Britain’s Got Talent”. Boyle enchanted the audience with her remarkable voice, and at the end of her performance received a standing ovation. Even though Boyle came in second after the “Diversity” dance troupe, her appearance brought her a lot of international success. That same year, she released her debut studio album called “I Dreamed a Dream”, which immediately peaked at #1 on the UK music charts. During its first week, it managed to sell 411,820 copies, becoming the fastest-selling debut album in the United Kingdom. Up to date, Susan Boyle has released a total of six studio albums, the most recent of which entitled “Hope” came out in 2014. In 2013, Boyle launched her first concert tour called “Susan Boyle in Concert”, with which she travelled all around the United Kingdom, as well as across the United States.
Susan Boyle Net Worth $35 Million
A famous singer and musician, how rich is Susan Boyle? According to sources, in 2010 she earned $2.4 million from the sales of her album called “The Gift”, while in 2011 her album “Someone to Watch Over Me” brought her $425,000. In regards to her overall wealth, Susan Boyle’s net worth is estimated to be $35 million, most of which she has accumulated due to her involvement in the music industry. Among Boyle’s most valuable assets is her house in Blackburn, which she purchased for $500,000.
Susan Boyle was born in 1961, in West Lothian, Scotland. As a child, Boyle was diagnosed with having “Aspergers Syndrome”, which affects learning, social interaction and non-verbal communication. For this reason, she had difficulties adjusting in high school, and finding a job after graduation. Nevertheless, Boyle found her solace in music, as a result of which she enrolled in the Edinburgh Acting School, and attended singing lessons. She used to sing in various churches, pubs, choirs, and took part in numerous local events. Boyle initially desired to showcase her talents in “The X Factor” show, yet she decided to skip the audition. Instead, she was persuaded to audition for “Britain’s Got Talent”, which made her an overnight success.
In addition to recording six albums, Susan Boyle has also made an acting debut in John Stephenson’s Christmas film called “The Christmas Candle”, in which she starred alongside Hans Matheson, Samantha Barks, Lesley Manville and Sylvester McCoy. Even though the film was largely criticized due to its low quality and predictable ending, “The Christmas Candle” managed to earn more than $2 million at the box office.
Boyle has proven herself to be a remarkable solo singer with more than 19 million albums sold worldwide. For her contributions to the music industry, in 2013 Susan Boyle received a Radio Forth Award, and was nominated for two Grammy Awards, for her debut album, and her second album called “The Gift”.
A well-known singer, as well as an actress, Susan Boyle has an estimated net worth of $35 million.

SUSAN BOYLE IN UK CONCERT

Susan BoyleFansSUSAN BOYLE IN CONCERT

Regal Community Theater in Bathgate. - Maureen Docherty-Nagle

Regal Community Theatre, Bathgate

Susan Boyle and Maureen Docherty-Nagle

Susan is a Patron of Regal Community Theater in Bathgate.

I am proud to say I visited the lovely theater and received a
very friendly greeting from Maureen and others.
Below is my writing of my time at the Regal.  The log of my Scotland Trip is on the main page of the SusanBoyle-graysea blog.   Wonderful time, wonderful people in Scotland.

 -  Royalty at the Regal
Well, we arrived 20 minutes later at the Regal Theatre http://www.facebook.com/bathgateregaltheatre and headed to a pub for supper before going in.  The small theatre was full of people, white hair, just like at home.  And of course, I felt right at home.  We were up front next to a senior group from a nearby town.  I couldn't understand where they were from when they told me (it sounded like Felfik???)  but I did talk to the man next to me, who told me he was John Duffy.  He said his brother played the music for Susan at church. He knew the entire family and he was proud to tell me that they know him.  During intermission  Diane brought a lady over to meet me.  Her name is Maureen Docherty-Nagle from the SusanBoyleFanInternational Site.  Diane said Maureen recognized the red scarf she was wearing and ask if she was a fan and that is how we all met.  Maureen took a lot of pictures and will post them on her Susan site.  She is planning on being in Glasgow at the show.  Hopefully we will meet up again.

Why I call this part "Royalty" at the Regal, is because after the intermission, the leader of the Livingston Fiddlers asked if there was a Grace from Massachusetts in the house - oh yes, up goes my hand -  whooohooo,  and then someone from another state was mentioned and I did not get her name, she was way in the back somewhere.  Also, from Texas, which was Diane.  WOW!!!!  I was surprised about us being announced to the audience.    What fun!.  The show was great. Thirty fiddlers in the band, plus piano, bass and accordion.  Very nice.

Check out Maureen's post about Scott Kyle

The manager at the Regal Community Theatre, Bathgate, has been taking a bit of time off from his day job recently.

But Scott Kyle had good reason.

For he landed one of the leading roles in a major new film, set to hit cinema screens from Friday 28 November.

Scott spent six weeks in Jordan filming for 'Kajaki', which tells the true story of the Kajaki minefield incident in 2006, when Cpl. Mark Wright of 3 Para was killed while organising a helicopter rescue in a desperate mission to rescue a colleague who had been injured by a landmine.

In the film, Scott plays paratrooper Stuart Pearson, one of the 12 soldiers involved in the rescue mission, which, as well as the death of Cpl. Wright, led to three of the men losing limbs and another four receiving serious injuries. As a result of the bravery involved in the rescue mission, four of the soldiers involved earned medals from the Queen.

Scott was so moved by the incident that he recently carried out a fundraising parachute jump in aid of the British Limbless Ex-Servicemen's Association. The jump was eight years to the day after the minefield incident.

"when you understand what these men and women went through in Afghanistan on our behalf, you realise that jumping out of a plane above Salisbury Plain is the very least you can do to support them on their road to recovery," said Scott, who also starred in the film 'The Angels' Share'.

Scott, on the left of the picture, is shown with the film's producer Gareth Unwin, best known for his production of the Academy Award-winning film The King's Speech
.
