Susan Boyle UK Tour 2014 Reviews

Our SBFII YouTube Channel is very close to passing 9 million views! This video by Canadian Bill, who along with pa1189 do all the work on the channel for us, felt we needed an updated 'featured video' to reflect the UK Tour, so he added this video. It is the top video when you visit the channel.
In 2013 Susan Boyle began her tour in Scotland, with 7 two hour performances. In 2014 she took her tour to the UK, 19 cities. All but two were completely sold out, and the others very close. These are some of the reviews, on the video. Take a look at all the great videos on our channel, but especially this new one:

Review of 2 JULY 2013 news - Susan Boyle’s secret sporting passions

Susan Boyle’s secret sporting passions

BY MURRAY SCOUGALL12 JULY 2013 1.09PM.
Singer is a fan of a huge range of sports and hopes to attend the Commonwealth games.
HOW does a worldwide superstar like to unwind?
Well, in the case of Susan Boyle, she loves nothing more than watching tennis at her home in Blackburn, West Lothian.
The singer’s love of football — and in particular, Celtic — is renowned. But her passion for a range of other sports was unknown, until now.
“I enjoy watching swimming and athletics,” she revealed in an interview with The Sunday Post. I might even go along and catch some of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow next year.
“I’m also going down to Bath next month for the Special Olympics GB National Summer Games, where I’ve been asked to sing at the opening ceremony. I’m really looking forward to that.
“But I’m actually a big tennis fan.
“It’s a sport I’ve always enjoyed watching, not just at Wimbledon but all year round.
“I find it really relaxing, although Andy Murray can sometimes make it tough to watch!”
Susan has been following the Dunblane hotshot’s progress as he bids for Wimbledon glory, but whether he wins or loses this afternoon, she thinks he’s fantastic.
“Regardless of what happens he’s already a national hero.
“He’s a great talent and I’ll be tuning in to watch him, as always.
“I wish Andy all the best and hope he wins.”
Susan will be able to empathise with Murray, long regarded as an underdog against Federer, Nadal and Djokovic. The 52-year-old is the very epitome of an underdog success story. It seems more than just four years since Susan Boyle became an overnight global sensation thanks to that fairytale Britain’s Got Talent audition, which was viewed by millions and ensured she would become reality television’s biggest-ever name. Life since then has been a massive dream come true, with Susan checking off one ambition after another.
Yet she’s remained incredibly grounded, still living in her ex-council house with her cat, Pebbles, and employing old pal Sadie as her PA. Susan’s in the midst of ticking off something else on that to-do list — and you get the impression from talking to her that this one means more than the rest. She’s currently on her first live tour, playing dates in theatres around Scotland (Pebbles is currently being cat-sat by a friend.)
Although Susan had previously sung short sets on the Britain’s Got Talent live tour and I Dreamed a Dream, the musical based on her life story, prior to last Tuesday in Inverness she had never performed a full concert and there were plenty of critics who questioned if she had it in her.
But with a 26-song set list lasting more than two hours, she’s proved the doubters wrong again. As well as the Inverness show, she has also played sold-out theatres in Aberdeen and was in Dundee last night, before moving on to Glasgow and Edinburgh this week, where she’ll play two shows in each city.
“I’m really enjoying the live shows and it gives me the chance to play a variety of songs,” she continued. The theatres have been wonderful to perform in.
“It’s a gradual build-up — I didn’t want to just go straight into too big a venue, which might have been daunting. I think this is the right way to do it.”
With more than 19 million album sales from her four albums, Susan (don’t call her SuBo, she says it makes her sound like a Brazilian footballer) has devoted fans willing to spend a small fortune to come to her homeland to see her perform.
One group of super-fans from the States will attend every show on the tour, such is their devotion.
“I have fans coming from America, Canada, all over in fact, and I find it very humbling,” said Susan, who revealed she is keeping her voice in shape on tour by drinking honey and lemon and trying to stay quiet while off-stage.
“I would love to sing in places like Australia, America and Hong Kong. I definitely want to play more concerts.
“I’d like to go to Vegas, do a residency, and stay there for a wee while. I think it would be really enjoyable and I remember how much I enjoyed my last visit when I performed with Donnie Osmond.”
In the meantime, are those gigs in Glasgow and Edinburgh — two cities that mean so much to her.
Glasgow, of course, is where she was discovered by BGT, while Edinburgh is the city closest to home.
“I’m looking forward to playing both places. I expect the crowds will be really friendly — they certainly have been so far and I feel lucky about that.
“I’ve got friends and family coming to the Edinburgh shows. In fact, there’s a busload coming from Blackburn!
“I don’t know if seeing so many familiar faces in the crowd will be relaxing or make me nervous — I probably won’t be able to tell until I’m out there on the night.”
Susan has a busy second half of the year coming up.
“I’ve just completed my fifth record, which will be a Christmas album.
“We recorded it in Gorbals Sound Studio in Glasgow, which is a great place. I like going to London but it’s nice to work on home ground, too.
“I can’t say any more about it just now because it’s wrapped in secrecy!” she laughed.
“And then in November my first film, Christmas Candle, is coming out. I’m really excited about that.
“It was great fun to make and it was brilliant meeting people like James Cosmo and Sylvester McCoy.
“I’d like to do more acting in the future, but it will always be secondary to music.
“And, finally, I definitely plan on doing more live work. I’ve enjoyed it so much and it’s what I want to do more of.”
With her track record so far, few would bet against Susan making a success of whatever she turns her hand to — including tennis!

Susan Boyle playing the Bridgewater Hall during her first live tour.

Review: Susan Boyle @ Bridgewater Hall, Manchester

Susan Boyle
****
Dianne Bourne was in the audience as the Scottish songstress who wowed Britain's Got Talent judges undertakes her first solo tour
Lest we forget the dramatic way Susan Boyle shot to fame some six years ago, there's a poignant refresher as she emerges onto the Bridgewater Hall stage.
As the Scottish superstar wiggles in the shadows of a spotlight, the immortal words of Simon Cowell ring out from that life-changing Britain's Got Talent audition that made her a global sensation.
"What's the dream?" he says.
"To be a professional singer," replied that now familiar Scottish voice. "I've never been given a chance before."
It took a TV talent show to give the dishevelled 47-year-old that chance, and now, six years on, she is undertaking her first solo tour.
It may have taken her that time to feel comfortable on stage, but her rapt audience ensure she knows it was worth the wait, leaping up for standing ovations throughout this show.
Her stage demeanour is still awkward and shuffling, but it only endears her more to the crowd.  She is certainly no hairy angel anymore, that wild greying barnet now sculpted into a sleek brunette chignon, while her stage outfits are dazzling diva in full length sparkling sequins, befitting of a woman now known as "SuBo" across the world.
But it's ultimately her voice that is the star - soaring effortlessly on this selection of tunes from musicals alongside emotional ballads.
She puts her own unique timing and interpretation on her songs, some working better than others.
It is spectacular on the likes of Unchained Melody and a stirring You'll Never Walk Alone at the finale - where she is backed by the impressive Manchester Show Choir.
And there is something truly magical in her take of the Rolling Stones' Wild Horses.
There's plenty of amusing banter from our SuBo too, with anecdotes about Pebbles the cat and Peter Kay along the way.  She even gets the audience dancing in the aisles for a belting River Deep and Mountain High at the finale.
The night just has to end though with I Dreamed a Dream - the Les Miserables song that started it all - and she jokes: "This next song got me into a lot of trouble."
As the crowd jump to their feet for their final standing ovation, I'm sure SuBo will agree it was all worth it.

Susan Boyle 2014 UK Concert Tribute

We are fortunate to have many talented members who belong to the Forum. One of them is Circlette00_Aus, a fan from Australia who has traveled to many of Susan's concerts. This video is her tribute to Susan with this comment posted on the Forum:
"I felt it was important to acknowledge how far Susan has come since her audition. In the eye of the public, Susan has overcome many battles both personal and professional. I selected a song by Shirley Bassey, which, IMO describes Susan. Consequently, most of the video clips with Susan singing have been muted to allow the viewer to hear the lyrics in the “theme” song selected."
Thanks, Circ! Congratulations, Susan!!

Thank you for this fabulous tribute video, Circlette00

Susan Boyle In Concert - Cambridge & Northampton - TV Ad 2014

Susan Boyle April 15th in concert at Bournemouth. Pavilion Theatre

Published on Apr 15, 2014 by Mike Danata

This video was shot at the Susan Boyle Concert at Bournemouth Pavilion on 15th April 2014. I at times had to move the camera away from the stage, because security was coming towards me. When it goes dark, it's because I'm moving the camera down to my lap!! It was still recording however,& when I felt brave enough, I brought it back up!! Keep with it though to see & hear the ovation at the end. Bournemouth LOVED Susan, FULL HOUSE & EVERYONE on their FEET. It was MAGIC!!

Thank you for posting the video, even for a little while for the folks
who can't get to see their beloved star in person.
Congratulation on a grand performance, Susan.
We love you, Susan!

Wonderful!  A celebration of an amazing talent. Thank you, Mike!

It’s five years since Susan Boyle found instant fame on TV’s Britain’s Got Talent and it has taken all that time for her to find the confidence to stage a full tour of the UK.
Reviews from the shows so far suggest the singer, who silenced Simon Cowell with her powerful, heart-stopping voice, is doing a grand job in concert, and only a handful of tickets are still available.
She tested the water with some home shows in her native Scotland last summer.
“After the success of Scotland I’m ready to take the next step and take my show to a whole host of towns and cities I have never played in before,” said Susan, ahead of the tour. “I’ve always wanted to do my own show and after the reception I received in Scotland I cannot wait to get back on stage,” added the 53-year-old who was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome two years ago.
Having sold in excess of 20 million records worldwide and stormed to the top of the charts in more than 30 countries, her live repertoire draws heavily on familiar tracks from her four albums.
These include fan favourites like her dazzling version of I Dreamed A Dream – the song from the musical Les Miserables that she chose for her first BGT audition – her take on the Rolling Stones’ Wild Horses, Somewhere Over the Rainbow and River Deep, Mountain High. But she has also slipped in other personal choices and a few spectacular surprises to keep things fresh.
“I’ve chosen some of my favourite songs from past albums and also new songs that not only have I wanted to perform for years but resonate with me and I hope my fans will love,” she added.
“I’m really very excited; the show will be bigger and better than before.”
These shows build on a host of new achievements in recent times. Last year she had her first movie role in The Christmas Candle and also became the first Brit to be allowed to duet with Elvis posthumously.
Only a very few tickets remain for Susan Boyle's Plymouth Pavilions concerts at Plymouth Pavilions on Saturday, April 12 and Princess Theatre, Torquay, on Sunday, April 13.
